Kristen Ortiz is a graduate student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in forensic psychology. She is also a researcher at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital and, with other leading psychologists, contributes to projects focused on the intersection of mental health treatment and the criminal justice system. Kristen’s work emphasizes culturally competent and trauma-informed approaches, reflecting her commitment to ensuring that psychological care is both evidence-based and accessible to diverse communities.

Kristen earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. At Kings, she engaged in research on trauma and its psychological implications, while also serving as a leader in diversity and inclusion initiatives. Her strong awareness of the barriers underserved populations face inspired her dedication to advocacy and bridging research with clinical practice.

With professional interests that span from trauma, forensic evaluation, and culturally responsive interventions, Kristen plans to continue her education and pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. Her ultimate goal is to expand opportunities for individuals navigating both mental health challenges and the justice system, ensuring they receive treatment that is ethical, effective, and grounded in compassion.
